Band Members

Aya Georgieva, Sofia, Bulgaria; Violin; Master Study at the University of Music in Vienna with Honours. As a member of Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra she played with renowned conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez, Franz Welser- Möst, Sir Colin Davis. Touring all over Europe, as well as China, Japan, Uruguay, Colombia, Peru. Moreover she plays with Wiener Kammersymphonie, Recreation Großes Orchester Graz, Max Steiner Orchester, Wiener Bachsolisten, Concilium Musicum Wien, among others. In 2010 violinist at the Austrian Pavilion at the World Exhibition in Shanghai; Joined Celtica in spring 2015.

Duncan Knight, Knight of the Pipes, Edinburgh/ Scotland, UK; Great Highland Bagpipe; Studied bagpipes from the age of 10. Graduated as a Bachelor of Music with 1st class honours, from Edinburgh Napier University in 2007. Played with The 1st Battalion, Royal Scots at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2004 and at Balmoral Castle as part of the Queen’s garden party entertainment. Played with The Royal Scots Borderers competition band 2007 – present. Other performances in France, Austria, Italy, Hungary and Tunisia; Currently also playing Scottish Smallpipes, whistles and mandolin with Edinburgh based folk group ‘The Gorms’.

Jane Espie, The Phantom Piper, Inverkeithing, Scotland, UK; Great Highland Bagpipe; Playing bagpipes since the age of 8, at the age of 18 experimenting with different ways and sounds of the bagpipes, at 21 broke away from the “traditional bagpiper” ways. Early piping days: traditional pipe bands such as the “Inverkeithing High School Pipe Band”, “The City of Edinburgh Pipe Band” and “The Royal Burgh of Inverkeithing Pipe Band”, “Torrevieja Pipes And Drums” (based in Spain). Previous regular band member of “Saor Patrol”.

Tom Cadek, Vienna, Austria; drums;
lives and works as drummer in Austria, international Performances with The Juke Joint Royals, Rautöne, Harmanic, among others; Double bassdrum-specialist with Metal-background, drum teacher and father of 3 Girls; regular band member since spring 2017;

Gajus Stappen, Vienna, Austria; acoustic- & electric guitar; experienced live and studio guitarplayer, bandleader and producer of the band, worked with artists such as Jennifer Rush, Maurice Gibb, Ace of Base; Bandleader and producer of Celtica; video- and photo artist.

Harald Weinkum, Phoenix, USA; bassguitar and upright bass; lived several years in L.A and worked there with fusion superstars such as Mike Stern, Dave Weckl, FrankGambale, Kirk Covington; now renowned live and studio musician in Phoenix, Arizona; Founding member of Celtica.
